How planning poker works and what your team needs before the first vote.
Can we run planning poker for free?
Yes. The Free plan gives your team unlimited live sessions and participants, private simultaneous voting, preset decks, timers, reactions, re-votes, and Slack and Discord commands. Guests can join without accounts. Upgrade only when the organizer needs async planning, backlog management, imports, exports, teams, or deeper controls. See the plan comparison.
What problem does planning poker solve?
Planning poker stops the first estimate from anchoring everyone else. Each teammate thinks independently, cards reveal together, and the spread shows where assumptions differ. The number matters, but the useful outcome is the conversation that exposes missing scope, risk, or context.
When should our team use planning poker?
Use it during backlog refinement, sprint planning, or any moment when several people need to align on relative effort. It is most useful when the work has uncertainty and the team benefits from hearing why estimates differ.
Does everyone need an account?
No. Guests join with a display name and can participate immediately. Sign in only when you want persistent account history, connected integrations, teams, billing, or other account-level settings. Anonymous session data is deleted when the guest signs out.
Which estimation scales can we use?
The Free plan includes preset decks such as Fibonacci, T-shirt sizes, and Powers of 2. Organizer users can create and save custom decks when the team has its own scale or vocabulary.
How many people can join a session?
Live sessions support unlimited voters and spectators on both plans. Invite the people who can improve the estimate without worrying about a per-seat charge.

Who pays, what stays free, and what happens if you cancel.
Does our whole team need a paid plan?
No. Only the person organizing the paid workflow needs an Organizer plan. Voters and spectators participate for free, even inside a full-featured team session powered by the team owner.
What does the Organizer plan cost?
Monthly and yearly billing are available. Yearly billing works out to about 5.00 EUR per month. The current total and billing interval are always shown before checkout on the pricing page.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep Organizer access until the end of the current billing period, then the account returns to Free. Existing sessions remain accessible, while Organizer-only actions such as async mode, imports, custom decks, and exports become unavailable.

Can the team estimate without another meeting?
Yes. Organizer users can run an async session with a voting window from 1 to 720 hours. Teammates vote in their own time, Pokor reminds them through Slack or Discord, and the story reveals when everyone has voted or the window closes.
Can we stop copying stories into the planning room?
Yes. The Organizer plan imports prepared work from Jira, Notion, GitHub, or CSV. Choose the items you want to estimate and keep the original title, description, and source link attached.
Can Pokor return the final estimate to our source tool?
Yes. Pokor can write finalized estimates back to supported Jira, GitHub, and Notion workflows. The available field or write-back mode depends on the integration and is configured from Settings → Integrations.
Can we avoid inviting the same people every sprint?
Yes. Organizer users can create a standing team and invite members once. New team sessions automatically include those members, can reuse a session-name template, and are powered by the team owner’s plan.
Can we start planning where the conversation already happens?
Yes. Use the /pokor command in Slack or Discord to create a session and share the join link in the same channel. Slash commands are available on the Free plan.
Can I control who enters a session?
Organizer users can require join approval, then approve or reject each person before they enter. Organizers can also remove or ban disruptive participants. Team sessions can be limited to invited members.
What can an organizer see about participants?
The session shows a participant’s display name, role, vote-completion status, and online presence. Organizers cannot see participant email addresses or IP addresses through the session interface.
AI & privacy
When AI runs, how credits work, and what happens to team data.
How can AI help without taking over estimation?
AI runs only when someone asks for it. It can suggest an estimate with a rationale, clarify a thin story, summarize why revealed votes differ, or draft a retrospective. The team still decides what the story means and which estimate to accept.
How do AI credits work?
One credit pays for one AI action. The monthly allowance includes 5 credits on Free and 15 on Organizer. Extra credits range from €0.15 each to €0.09 in volume and purchased credits do not expire.
Can we use our own AI provider key?
Yes. Organizer users can connect OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or Grok from Settings → Integrations. Actions sent through that provider key do not consume Pokor credits.
Can a standing team share AI credits?
Yes. Team admins can fund a shared pool, view its transaction history, transfer unused credits back, or switch the pool off. AI used in a team session spends from the team pool before falling back to personal credits.
Is our planning data used to train AI models?
No. AI runs only after an explicit action, and voter identities are anonymized before vote data is sent. Hosted requests are not used to train third-party models. See the Privacy Policy for provider and data-flow details.
How is account and session data protected?
Connections use HTTPS/TLS. Pokor does not store passwords; sign-in uses one-time email codes or supported identity providers. Guests can remove their anonymous session data by signing out.
